  • 8 ounces pasta (spaghetti, linguine, or your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 pound ripe tomatoes, diced

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add diced tomatoes to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes are softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat. Add cooked pasta and chopped basil to the skillet. Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated with the tomato sauce.
  5. Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
